We had a debate as if we were in pre-revolutionary times. There was two sides, the Loyalists and the Patriots. The English King that ruled them was asking for taxes on many priorities that the colonists used and frequently needed, like tea and stamps. The Patriots were mad about the taxes and thought that the king should not give them and later thought the English should not rule them all. They rebelled for it. That's what caused things like the Boston Tea Party and the Tar and Feathering. The Loyalists thought that since he was the king, even though they didn't like it, they should put up with the taxes. Our debate was about having a Revolutionary War or not. There were debates like this going on back then all over the 13 Colonies. But, what happened was before they had made their final decision, the war already started in Lexington and Concord. Mrs.Karre simulated this for us.
